At the time the first loan was taken out (it was for around 4,000 and it was to a school that was a scam, but they got away with itbecause they knew the ins and outs of pulling off their scam very well. . so I’m asking about applying for another loan / consolidation, not discussing the previous one.

Bank loan or debt consolidation program for credit card payoff?
Due to a family tragedy, my husband and I are currently in $26,000 of credit card debt. All of the payments are current and the cards are paid on time with the accounts still open (we are not still charging, though). We are looking to seriously pay this down before the interest eats us alive. My husband wants to take out a bank loan and pay the cards off that way, but I am wondering about the debt consolidation programs you hear about (I know some of those are scams and some are real). Any advice or experience?
Fighting Student Loan Debt
www.consumerwarningnetwork.com College students struggling with overwhelming debt from student loans are getting support from some major players. Click here to watch the video and learn more. Reverend Jesse Jackson is using the power of his Rainbow Push Coalition to shine a light on the student loan debt problem. US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan was keynote speaker at his National Rainbow Push conference in Chicago. CWN contributor Attorney Nicole Mayer was also a speaker. Jackson and Duncan spoke about the need to make a college education affordable for all students. Mayer represents minority students in a class action lawsuit against Sallie Mae. The suit alleges the student lending giant charges minority students higher interest rates on their student loans. “Rainbow Push Coalition and Jesse Jackson have expressed support for the movement to end redlining of student loans and that is targeting students with higher priced loans simply because of the clor of their skin or the school they attend. And Reverend Jackson with his civil right background really appreciates the implications of this kind of practice, so to have his support, knowledge and understanding is critical,” Mayer said. Mayer also shared information about student loan redlining with NAACP President Ben Jealous and US from Illinois Senator Danny Davis.
Can anyone tell me from experience getting a high interest/bad credit loan vs a debt counselor?
I have made a string of bad decisions in the last year financially. No sad story here, I am just bad with my money. Plain and simple. I have gotten better and I am improving more and more every day, but I am so far behind on everything now, I just cant get caught up. I thought a couple of payday loans were the answer but that only made matters much worse. I have identified what I need to do and with my salary I can pay a pretty hefty loan payment but I just cant get myself to even and start moving forward. Between payday loan fees and NSF fees every month and I just wasting money and I cant get out of that trap. Does anyone have any sound advice or a suggested solution to this nightmare I am in. I just dont know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
